Whole Grains cont’d
It’s easy to add whole grains into your diet every day…
Try incorporating brown rice instead of white, popcorn as a snack instead of pretzals or chips, whole wheat pasta instead of white, and oatmeal for breakfast instead of Special K…
 If the last idea baffles you, let’s think about this a bit more…Special K is a good choice, but oatmeal is a better choice.Â
Higher in fiber and richer in vitamins & minerals, oatmeal often gets a bad rap because it is high in ‘Carbs’. Special K is not made of true whole grains and, although, lower in calories, doesn’t provide the plethora of health benefits of a cereal, like oatmeal, that has all three parts of the grain still intact (bran, endosperm and germ).
