Trying to Quit Smoking? Join the Great American Smoke Out

The American Cancer Society wants you to quit smoking, and with good reason:

Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. Each year, smoking accounts for an estimated 438,000 premature deaths, including 38,000 deaths among nonsmokers as a result of secondhand smoke. Half of all Americans who continue to smoke will die from smoking-related diseases.

If that doesn’t convince you to quit, you’ll find plenty of other reasons why you should at the American Cancer Society’s website. The Cancer Society knows quitting isn’t easy, and that’s why they started the Great American Smokeout. They provide plenty of resources, including a guide to quit and access to a Quit Line for additional support. So why not take that leap and join the 33rd Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 20th? Take control and kick those butts to the curb. You’re worth it!
