Fighting Food Waste.
Fueling Community Health.

To The Rescue©
A Trail of Smiles
To The Rescue turns surplus into opportunity. This program rescues high-quality fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be wasted and redirects them to schools and community sites, ensuring students and families have access to fresh, nourishing food.
Paired with practical lessons on produce storage and freshness, To The Rescue reduces waste while fueling health, learning, and sustainability.

Rescuing with a Mission
The Power of Partnership
Our success in this mission is rooted in FTS’s long-standing relationships with our partner schools and their students.
Because these schools have already integrated our core nutritional platforms—including the Eat Great 2B Great curriculum, The Power of Produce, Healthy Holidays, Level the Field, and Cultivating Calm—the essential groundwork has been laid.
So when a call comes in from our Last Mile Food Rescue, 80 Acres, regional retailers and growers, we are ready to rescue and redistribute to 10,000 plus area students

Mastery of the Shelf Life
The Fresh Factor
To The Rescue" is more than a distribution program; it is an educational platform. We empower students and families to become experts in managing their own nutritional resources through practical, hands-on lessons:
Optimal Storage Techniques: Understanding the science of airflow and temperature to prevent premature spoilage and keep produce crisp.
The "Freshness Factor": Teaching students how to evaluate food quality through sight, touch, and smell, reducing the fear of "ugly" produce that is perfectly safe and nutritious.
Shelf Life Extension: Sharing simple at-home methods to maximize the longevity of every fruit and vegetable rescued.

Sustainability
Protecting our Hometown
To The Rescue© shifts the perspective of our youth from passive recipients to active advocates for sustainability.
By reducing food waste in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, we are preserving local resources, reducing landfill impact, and ensuring that our hometown food system is as resilient as the students we serve.
